A video of little Aria receiving the gag gift has been viewed more than 22 million times on Twitter and nearly 750,000 times on Instagram since it was posted on both sites last week.
The father, Twitter user @lgndfrvr, told NBC News that his daughter has been eager for Christmas and Santa to come, so he decided to give her a banana as a joke to see how she would respond.
