NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Welcome to New York City, Katy Keene!
The CW has announced that it has picked up the 'Riverdale' spin-off 'Katy Keene,' which is all about following one's dreams and making it in New York City. It comes from 'Riverdale' and 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
"Katy Keene follows the lives and loves of four iconic Archie Comics characters — including fashion legend-to-be Katy Keene and singer/songwriter Josie McCoy — as they chase their twenty-something dreams in New York City," the CW said. "This musical dramedy chronicles the origins and struggles of four aspiring artists trying to make it on Broadway, on the runway and in the recording studio."
Katy Keene will be played by "Pretty Little Liars" star Lucy Hale. Also joining the cast is Ashleigh Murray, who plays songstress Josie McCoy -- as in Josie and the Pussycats -- in 'Riverdale,' which she will be leaving. "It's time for Josie to shine on her own. #Riverdale #KatyKeene," tweeted Archie Comics.
"KATY KEENE is officially picked up to series and I'm actually In tears," Hale tweeted. "So excited about this next chapter. This show is all about hope and pursuing dreams and the friendships & relationships that bond it all. Actually can't wait for you all to see this."
Murray also tweeted, "I'm playing a girl just trying to make it NYC while actually having been. that. girl. for last 11 yrs. New York City. We deserve each other boo, JUST ACCEPT IT."
