NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Officials announced on Monday the arrest of a white couple on Long Island for allegedly harassing their black neighbor by hurling feces and dead squirrels in her yard.
According to Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas, 57-year-old John McEneaney, and his 53-year-old girlfriend, Mindy Canarick, are accused of carrying out the attacks on neighbor Jennifer McLeggan from the time she moved into her Valley Stream home in October 2017 until last month.

Last month, McLeggan, a 39-year-old single mother of a 2-year-old daughter, brought attention to the alleged harassment by listing the allegations on a handwritten sign attached to her door and posted it to Instagram.
McLeggan claimed she was targeted because of her race, but according to Singas, her office's investigation "did not find evidence to support a hate crime charge."
However, a "pattern of harassing conduct against Ms. McLeggan," was found the DA said.
According to officials, McEneaney is accused of repeatedly shooting a pellet gun across McLeggan's lawn and hitting a nearby street sign at least 20 times.
Canarick allegedly left dog feces on McLeggan's property in May 2019, Singas said.
She added that she was "heartbroken" after seeing the sign that was posted on McLeggan's door.
"This conduct crossed the line between being a bad neighbor and into the realm of criminality," Singas said.
McEneaney was charged with criminal mischief and harassment. Canarick was charged with criminal tampering.
An order of protection was issued to keep the couple away from McLeggan.
They were released without bail at their arraignment.
