NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The global death toll from coronavirus over the past nine months is about to top 1 million, according to Johns Hopkins University, which put the figure at 999,273 at 2:45 p.m. on Monday.
But according to a tally compiled by Agence France-Presse, using data from the World Health Organization and countries themselves, the death toll surpassed 1 million on Sunday night. (See below)
The United States has the highest death toll, with 204,881 fatalities, according to Johns Hopkins, followed by Brazil, India, Mexico and Britain.
