Schenectady Film Commissioner Donna Pennell confirmed the news Friday afternoon, saying the city is “thrilled” to be welcoming the production crew.

HBO Max’s “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” will be filming at the Armory Studios NY soundstage, according to the Schenectady Film Commissioner.

“It’s really a great opportunity for Schenectady,” Pennell said, adding that several other productions have been drawn to the area recently.

She noted that Showtime recently filmed scenes for its new series, “Three Women,” in Schenectady and HBO was last in the Capital Region filming for “The Gilded Age.”

Pennell said “Pretty Little Liars” will be filming in the area in February/early March.

Film Schenectady noted that a few hundred background actors will also be needed. Those who wish to be a part of the production are encouraged to check Film Schenectady’s Facebook page, where details will be posted.

Few details are known about the new HBO Max series, and Lucy Hale – star of the original ABC Family series – told Variety in November 2021 that “no one from the original is involved [in the reboot] in any way.”
