LOS ANGELES (1010 WINS) — Former "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno suffered "a serious medical emergency" from a car fire that forced him to cancel an appearance in Las Vegas over the weekend.

"I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire," he said in a statement to Variety. "I am okay. Just need a week or two to get back on my feet."

Leno, 72, is currently being treated at a burn center after one of his cars erupted into flames in his Los Angeles garage without warning, according to TMZ.

The flames reportedly burned the left side of his face but did not impact his ear or eye.

People.com reported that the comedian known for his love for classic cars and host of "Leno's Garage" was slated to perform at a finance summit on Sunday.

"His family was not able to provide us very many details, but there was a very serious medical emergency that is preventing Jay from traveling," an email sent to attendees said.

Leno has also canceled the remainder of his engagements for rest of the week.
