NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The popular Tribeca Grill, owned by Robert De Niro, is reportedly getting a new name and a new look.

Restaurateur Jean-Georges Vongerichten is set to take over many aspects of the eatery — including its creative vision, operations and menu, according to the New York Post. The deal is said to be locked sometime this month.
The partnership had been in the works pre-pandemic, but were tabled, the report said. Discussions just recently went back in motion after De Niro and Vongerichten saw each other in France.
The longtime friends sat down at the Tribeca Grill to talk through the deal, in which the financial terms aren’t yet known, according to the Post. The actor has interest in "revitalizing" the location, a source said.
The Greenwich Street spot opened in 1990, aiming to deliver a “quintessential NYC dining experience” along with an atmosphere for people-watching, according to its website.
The list of investors is long and famous — including Bill Murray, Sean Penn and Christopher Walken. The big names who have hosted events at it is even more impressive.
The grill is on the first two floors of the home of the Tribeca Film Center.
Vongerichten has an impressive slate of restaurants under his belt, including 12 in New York City. They range from ABC Cocina and Nougatine to Perry St. and The Fulton.
Vongerichten, who hails from France, has published several cookbooks and has a book about his life as well that tells his story with 12 recipes that “defined his career.”
