The 79th Golden Globes will not have a broadcast of any kind, with NBC opting to not air them this year, and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announcing they won't be providing a livestream for it.

The only way to know who won will be by following along with the Golden Globes' social media pages, the HFPA announced Thursday.

"This year's event is going to be a private event," the HFPA tweeted.

The 79th Golden Globes from Hollywood won’t have a red carpet or celebs nor audience members either, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

NBC still owns broadcasting rights to the ceremony, but declined to air this year’s awards after controversy over the Hollywood Foreign Press’ diversity efforts.

According to Variety, the awards made efforts to get celebrity presenters, but failed.

"Over the last eight months, the HFPA has completely overhauled its bylaws, implementing sweeping changes from top to bottom addressing ethics and code of conduct, diversity, equity and inclusion, governance, membership, and more," the HFPA said Tuesday. "In October, the HFPA admitted its largest and most diverse class to date with 21 new journalists, all of whom were first-time Golden Globe voters."

Winners will be announced over the 90-minute ceremony at the Beverly Hilton, likely to only be attended mostly by HFPA members.

The HFPA said with no celebs, the event will more be centered on its philanthropy efforts. And for the few going, vaccination and a negative COVID test are required.
