NEW YORK — Actor Paul Rudd, known for portraying "Ant-Man" in the Marvel movies and for his roles in “This is 40" and “Clueless,” has been named People magazine's 2021 Sexiest Man Alive.
Stephen Colbert revealed this year's winner Tuesday night on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert."
“Right now, there is one major question on absolutely everyone’s minds: Who will be People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2021? In these divided times, it’s the last thing that all Americans care about,” Colbert said as he shared that this year’s predictions included Chris Evans and Dwayne Johnson.
“Well, all the speculation ends tonight, ladies and gentlemen, because it is my distinct honor to have been chosen by the good people at People to be the official person to announce this year’s Sexiest Man Alive,” Colbert noted, “and it is not a responsibility that I take lightly.”
Throughout the episode, Colbert put the 52-year-old Rudd through several “sexiness” tests, including a photoshoot as a construction worker, a physical exam, and even a Westminster Dog Show-style judging round. It then involved the 52-year-old pouring water over his head, leading him to say, “Help me, I’m drowning in sexiness.”
After the tests, Colbert then told Rudd that he did a great job.
“There’s nothing sexier than humility, and you passed!” Colbert said, “Paul, you’re the sexiest man alive.”
“I’m the sexiest man alive?!” Rudd said as he covered his mouth before being given flowers, being crowned, and holding up a banner that read, “SEXIEST MAN ALIVE.”
In an interview with People, Rudd said he hopes to get invited to “those sexy dinners” with past winners Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and Michael B. Jordan.

“I mean, I’m going to lean into it hard. I’m going to own this," he said. "I’m not going to try to be like ‘Oh, I’m so modest.’ I’m getting business cards made. But all of my friends will destroy me, and I expect them to, and that’s why they’re my friends.”
Rudd currently stars in “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” which hits theaters later this month.
