NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Jim Carrey is bidding adieu to his portrayal of president-elect Joe Biden on "Saturday Night Live," the actor announced Saturday, just hours ahead of the show's final episode of the year.

It is unknown who will play Biden next or whether Biden will be portrayed during this weekend's show.

Carrey, who lives on the West Coast, has impersonated Biden since the show's 46th season premiere on Oct. 4. He hasn't been on the show in two weeks.

"Though my term was only meant to be 6 weeks, I was thrilled to be elected as your SNL President...comedy's highest call of duty," Carrey, 58, tweeted. "I would love to go forward knowing that Biden was the victor because I nailed that shit. But I am just one in a long line of proud, fighting SNL Bidens!"

Among those in that long line who have played Biden, are Jason Sudeikis, Woody Harrelson, John Mulaney and Kevin Nealon.

"Thank you to Jim Carrey for showing up when it mattered," the show tweeted back at Carrey.
