Shyne on his return to music, Belize politics and his next chapter

Entertainers with Shelley Wade

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Former Bad Boy Records artist turned politician Shyne joined “Entertainers with Shelley Wade” to discuss his transition from hip-hop stardom to government leadership—and his upcoming return to music.

Discovered in an East Flatbush barbershop in 1998, Shyne signed to Bad Boy Records before a 1999 nightclub shooting involving Sean "Diddy" Combs disrupted his career. He served nearly a decade in prison and was deported to Belize upon his release. He then entered public service, following his father, former Prime Minister Dean Barrow, and eventually served as Leader of the Opposition in Belize’s House of Representatives until losing his seat in 2025.

Shyne is now preparing for a musical comeback with his first studio album in 22 years, titled “The Honorable” and set for release on Nov. 20. Along with the album, he will launch his first headline tour, the 2622 LGND Tour, featuring Barrington Levy and Lil' Cease, which includes an appearance at LL Cool J's Rock the Bells Festival at the Prudential Center in Newark on Nov. 29.
