The Associated Press once honored him as the “Best Radio News Anchor in New York." And as millions of New York radio listeners will attest, it is no surprise that broadcast news and voice-over talent Larry Mullins was also honored by the AP for “Best Newscast."
The 40-year veteran of television (NBC News) voice commercials and news radio has informed and entertained (he calls it “info’taining”) audiences for more than a decade, on Audacy (formerly CBS Radio) 1010 WINS New York.
His unique style, velvety-smooth baritone voice, and engaging delivery have reinvigorated the art of newscasting, earning the highly-coveted Edward R. Murrow Award for "Best Newscast."
Mullins has a knack for making even complex stories simple, serious stories palatable, and the quirkiest stories downright hilarious! His human inflection, emotions, and his laugh are real, and his smile can be heard in his voice. It is not unusual for listeners to comment how they actually "enjoy being stuck in the New York Rush hour" (Mullins anchors the PM Rush, Afternoon Drive newscast), to spend time hearing his rapid-fire brand of newscasting. Formerly a National Correspondent for NBC News, daytime TV watchers will also remember his distinctive voice as a former announcer for the #1 ABC Daytime talker, “Live with Kelly & Ryan."
The native of Orlando/Daytona Beach, Florida, Mullins is also plugged into the community (a former member of the 6-time Grammy-Award winning Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir), host of the annual (5-time NYABJ award-winning) Black History Month showcase on 1010WINS, and for almost a decade, the lead talent for the annual New York City/Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular. He is also quite active across all social media platforms, including YouTube, Twitter, Tik-Tok, Facebook, Instagram, and Linked In, where he regularly provides sneak previews of his daily afternoon newscasts, on 1010 WINS, on 92.3 FM.
He is currently featured in regional voice-over ads for companies like Audi, LifeVac, BathFitter, Hyundai, Toyota, The Good Feet Store, New York Botanical Garden, and many more! His approach to successful voice and broadcasting engagement: Keep it simple, don’t “read” into the mic—but “talk” into it as if you’re chatting with a friend on the living room couch.
And they’ll invite you back...time and time again.
