De Blasio hasn't spoken to Cuomo in 'weeks,' says scandal has become 'distraction' to whole state

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Mayor Bill de Blasio on Monday said that his last conversation with Gov. Andrew Cuomo was "weeks ago" but their teams are talking.

"I think the governor's in crisis, and his crisis has become a distraction to the whole state," de Blasio said.

According to de Blasio, he and the governor last spoke about COVID and some element of the vaccination effort, said everyone will continue moving forward.

"With what's happening in Albany, it's making it harder to get things done and that's why I think change is needed there."

With the budget being just two weeks away and the mounting harassment allegations against the governor, the mayor was asked if he thinks it would affect the role that Cuomo's will be able to play when negotiating with the legislature, to which de Blasio said that the situation has become a distraction but he has "a lot of faith in the state legislatures."
