NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- New York City police officers shot a gunman who was involved in a Brooklyn shootout on Tuesday, says authorities.

According to police, officers shot 22-year-old Edynesson Bauduy, who was out on parole.

Bauduy was shot around 7:30 p.m. near Church and Ocean avenues in Flatbush, says police. NYPD Assistant Chief Francis Giordano said officers patrolling the area in a car heard gunshots and came upon two individuals having a shootout.

The officers fired several shots at the gunman who was closest to them, and struck Bauduy at least once.

Bauduy was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and was last listed in stable condition.
