Off-duty NYPD detective critically injured after shooting self in head in Queens home: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An off-duty NYPD detective was critically injured after he shot himself inside of his Queens home late Sunday, according to officials.

The 28-year-old officer suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head At around around 11:30 p.m., inside his home located on Beach 139th Street near Beach Channel Drive in Belle Harbor according to authorities.

EMS transported the officer to Kings County Hospital Center where he remains in critical condition, the NYPD said.
