1 dead after blaze breaks out at New Jersey home: officials

CRANFORD, N.J. (WCBS 880) — At least one person died Tuesday morning when a fire broke out at a home in New Jersey.
Fire officials said the blaze began around 7 a.m. at a 2-story Union County home on Beech Street, in the Cranford neighborhood.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, officials said it had already reached 3-alarms.
Cranford Fire Lt. Matthew Lubin told ABC7 that a rescue attempt of two occupants took place shortly after responders arrived.
He confirmed that one person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Their identity was not immediately released.
The condition of the second victim was also not disclosed.
Fire officials said operations remain ongoing and Cranford Police have closed Beech Street to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
