NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — At least seven people were injured Monday after a massive fire broke out at a high-rise under construction in Midtown.
FDNY officials said the fire began around 10:22 a.m. on the 10th floor of a 49-story building on West 47th Street, near Sixth Avenue.
The building is the site of the new Hotel Riu Plaza Manhattan Times Square, which is still under construction and is set to open by the end of 2021, according to the hotel's website.

The FDNY noted that no one was present in the building when the blaze began.
A total of 20 FDNY units and 78 firefighters were called to the scene to contain the fire.
Flames were brought under control just after 11:30 p.m., according to fire officials.
There were at least seven civilians injured, with five being transported to nearby hospitals. Authorities did not release their conditions.
Photos from the scene showed a large emergency response, with multiple FDNY trucks blocking much of Sixth Avenue.
Video from the scene also showed the fire shooting of the hotel's windows, and smoke filling up the air.
FDNY officials have not released the cause of the fire as operations remain ongoing.
