BARNEGAT BAY, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A teenager died after a boat he was riding on hit a marker in Barnegat Bay on Sunday, authorities said.
The 18-year-old man was riding a pontoon boat with five other people near the Route 37 bridge around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday when it hit the marker, New Jersey State Police said.
The 18-year-old was taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. His name wasn't immediately released.
One of the other passengers suffered moderate injuries in the crash, according to police. The four other passengers suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Police didn't immediately release any additional details about the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
