Egg Harbor City Police Chief Marcella Aylwin told NBC 4 that the impact caused the home along U.S. Route 30, near Antwerp Avenue, to partially collapse on an 80-year-old man who was inside his living room — leveling the floor beneath him and placing him in the basement.

Aylwin said the driver allegedly crashed into a car at around 7:30 a.m. and continued into oncoming traffic, through a field and some woods, eventually hitting a tree, then into the home.

Aylwin said the driver and the 80-year-old were taken to a nearby hospital without serious injuries.

NBC 4 reports the cause of the crash remains under investigation. The driver of the first car hit by the dump truck was not hurt.
