The men, 22-year-old Naeem Jackson of East Orange and 20-year-old Walter Williams-Lang of Elizabeth, allegedly got into the victim's taxi at 4:37 a.m. on May 14.

Police said Williams-Lang pointed a gun at the driver while demanding his money. Jackson then allegedly took the gun from Williams-Lang and pistol-whipped the driver’s head multiple times before shooting him in the arm.

Both men fled the scene leaving the driver with a gunshot wound in critical condition, according to authorities.

The two men are facing several charges including robbery and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence. All together, the pair is facing up to 40 years to life in prison if convicted on all counts. Both are detained without bail.
