NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 7-year-old girl was shot on Saturday afternoon on Long Island, the Nassau County Police Department said.
The incident happened on Evans Avenue in Hempstead just before 3 p.m, police said.
The young victim had a gunshot wound in her left arm and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, authorities said.
The cause of the shooting is unclear and the investigation remains ongoing.
