NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Alleged Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann received his first visit from his estranged wife at the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office Correctional Facility in Riverhead on Wednesday, his wife's attorney said.
Asa Ellerup's divorce attorney, Bob Macedonio, confirmed her visit to 1010 WINS/WCBS 880 and noted that it lasted approximately an hour.
Ellerup filed for divorce from Heuermann six days after he was arrested and charged with murder in the serial killings of Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman and Amber Costello whose remains were found near Gilgo Beach in 2010 and 2011.
Vicki Distefano, spokesperson for the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office, was unable to release the names of visitors per jail policy, but confirmed that Heuermann received a visitor Thursday and that visits are restricted to one hour.

"Rex Heuermann is allowed the same visitations that all other inmates are entitled to," DiStefano said. "Officers are present and visitors are allowed to embrace once at the beginning and end of the visit. All visitors are required to go through a metal detector and all inmates are searched after visits."
Heuermann, a 59-year-old architect who was arrested on July 13 for the three cold-case murders, remains the prime suspect in the killing of Maureen Brainard-Barnes, though he has not been charged in her death.
Brainard-Barnes' remains were found on the same stretch of Ocean Parkway as the other three women in the same timeframe, and together they are known as the "Gilgo Four."
Michael Brown, Heuermann's defense attorney, did not immediately respond to 1010 WINS/WCBS 880's request for comment.
