FOUND SAFE: Missing boy, 3, located after Newark carjacking sparks Amber Alert

NEWARK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A missing 3-year-old boy was found safe Tuesday, shortly after an Amber Alert was issued for him in Newark, where he was taken during a carjacking.

The child, Pedro Dasilva, was in a silver Hyundai Sonata on Wilson Avenue in the city's Ironbound neighborhood around 8:15 a.m. when a man stole the vehicle, authorities said.

After a two-hour search, the boy was located unharmed around 10:30 a.m. inside the Hyundai in Jersey City, according to the Essex County Sheriff's Office.

The carjacker, however, was nowhere to be found, and no arrests have been reported in the case.
