UNION, N.J. (1010 WINS) – More than 20 people were injured in a head-on collision involving a New Jersey Transit bus on Thursday morning in Union.

The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. on the 94 line, according to NJ Transit officials. The bus was traveling between Bloomfield and Linden when a vehicle in the opposite direction swerved into its path, striking it head-on.

A total of 21 passengers on the bus requested medical attention, according to officials. One person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A second bus, also on the 94 line, was traveling behind and had to stop suddenly to avoid the crash. Although it was not directly involved, four passengers on the second bus sustained minor injuries, which were evaluated at the scene.
