NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) –  Billy Joel and his family have adopted a new rescue dog, Bucky, the Grammy-winning musician announced on social media on Sunday.

“A year and a half ago, we lost Rosie and were waiting for the right rescue for our family,” Joel posted on Instagram, referring to a puppy that he had rescued in 2012.

Photos show Joel and his family gathered around the dog, with a caption thanking Beth Stern and Nikki Carvey, founder of Roadogs Rescue, a nonprofit, for finding Bucky.

“He was at a shelter in San Diego with a bad case of mange @roadogs rescued him and nursed him back to health and now he is part of our family,” Joel wrote in the caption.

Joel had already adopted another pug, Sabrina, who died in 2016, according to Newsday.

The North Shore Animal League America named a room in its Bianca's Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center after Joel in 2019. He also donated his birthday concert proceedings to Bianca's Furry Friends in 2014.
