Brian S. Palangi, 26, was located in the waters near the Philadelphia Navy Yard in early May, a New Jersey State Police spokesman told NJ.com Monday.

Palangi and Joseph P. McLaughlin, both of Deptford Township, had not been seen since the boat overturned in the Delaware River between Philadelphia and Gloucester County on Nov. 13.

Their bodies were reportedly swept away by swift currents, while a third man on the boat was rescued by another vessel.

The spokesperson said Palangi's family was made aware of his recovery, but news of the discovery is only being made public now because it wasn't referred to the NJSP's public information office.

The body of McLaughlin, 24, has yet to be recovered, but the search by the agency's marine services unit is a priority, according to the spokesperson.

In a GoFundMe for Palangi, the Rutgers University-Camden graduate was described as an "amazing father, son, friend, teammate, and colleague who brought smiles to everyone who knew him."

McLaughin was described in a separate GoFundMe as "the best son, co-worker, and friend to so many of us."
