NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A 4-year-old boy who was found unresponsive after accidentally falling into a swimming pool in New Jersey died on Monday due to his injuries, prosecutors announced.

On Aug. 30 at around 3:30 p.m., the Berkeley Township Police responded to a house in South Seaside Park after receiving reports of a 4-year-old being removed from a swimming pool and found unresponsive.

Emergency life-saving techniques were performed on the child and he was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he was initially listed in critical but stable condition, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer.

However, the child was pronounced dead three days later.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with this child’s parents, family and friends at this most difficult time,” Billhimer said in a statement.
