DEPTFORD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (WCBS 880) -- Officials are investigating the drowning death of a 5-year-old boy in a swimming pool at a New Jersey home Monday evening, authorities said.

According to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, efforts were made to revive the child after he was found in the pool at a residence located on Hampshire Drive in Deptford Township.
The boy was rushed to Cooper University Hospital and pronounced dead at 6:40 p.m., officials said.
It is unclear if the child lived at the home or was just visiting with family, authorities said.
An investigation remains ongoing.
