Brooklyn man dead after 5 shot in New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE (1010 WINS) – A Brooklyn man died, and four other men were wounded, in a shooting in New Rochelle on Saturday night, police said.

The five men were attending a gathering near Horton Avenue and Brook Street when they were shot shortly before midnight, according to police.

A 29-year-old man who is believed to be from Brooklyn was shot in the neck and pronounced dead, police said. He has not been identified.

Another man was shot in the back and was rushed to an area hospital, where he was taken into surgery.

The three other victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Police said two .223 casings were recovered at the scene.

About an hour later around 1 a.m., multiple shots were fired near Main Street and Echo Avenue, police said.

Police believe an unknown number of shooters fired multiple rounds in a courtyard, striking the third, fourth and fifth-floor windows of a building.

Ten .9mm casings were recovered, according to police.

Police said it’s not yet known if the two shootings are connected.
