NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Bruce Springsteen’s mother, Adele, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 98.

The 74-year-old New Jersey native announced the news in a heartfelt Instagram post on Thursday, which included a video of the pair dancing on the outdoor patio of a large estate.

Glenn Miller’s “In The Mood” plays in the background of the video as the duo dances, and Adele caps off the sweet moment with a kiss on her son’s cheek.

The caption of the post includes lyrics from the singer-songwriter’s own song, “The Wish,” which includes references to Mother’s Day and growing up with his mom.

“I remember in the morning mom hearing your alarm clock ring. I’d lie in bed and listen to you getting ready for work, the sound of your makeup case on the sink,” the caption begins.

While Springsteen did not disclose his mother’s cause of death, he did discuss her decade-long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease in 2021, amid his return to Broadway.

At the time, Springsteen told TODAY that his mother loved to dance, something ingrained in her from her time growing up with the big bands and swing bands of the ‘40s.

"She's 95 and she's 10 years into Alzheimer's and that’s taken a lot away from us," Springsteen told TODAY. "But the need to dance hasn't left her."

Adele was beloved by Springsteen fans, and reportedly was seen dancing in the crowd at many of his shows.

This was confirmed by E Street Band member Steven Van Zandt in a memorial post on X on Thursday.

“The Matriarch of our family and an unrelenting source of inspiring positive energy. One of a kind. She will always be there for us. Dancing in the audience,” Van Zandt wrote.
