Just days after the social media giant had a full-fledged outage, Facebook and Instagram said “some” users were having issues Friday afternoon.

“We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and we apologize for any inconvenience,” Facebook tweeted just before 3:30 p.m.

Instagram echoed a similar message on Twitter, saying, “We know some of you may be having some issues using Instagram right now. We’re so sorry and are working as quickly as possible to fix.”

The apps said on Twitter after 5 p.m. Friday that the problems were fixed, under three hours after they were first reported.

Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp were down for about six hours globally on Monday in an issue that was attributed to an engineer doing routine maintenance work issued a command "which unintentionally took down all the connections in our backbone network.”

Just how widespread the issues were Friday was unclear. On Down Detector, user reports hit about 2,500 around 2:30 p.m., a far cry from the 127,000 reports that came in Monday at noon.
