NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Chris Christie is "seriously considering" a 2024 presidential run, according to a report Wednesday.
Three sources close to the former New Jersey governor told Axios that they have "an early sense of the rationale and outlines of a potential candidacy."
Christie reportedly told friends he'd be the only Republican candidate with executive experience who has previously run a presidential campaign if former President Donald Trump doesn't run.
Among Christie's appeal, according to the sources: He has a reputation for "toughness," as well as a "combativeness and charisma" that Republicans want, while lacking Trump's "recklessness."
As a candidate, he also has the potential to garner support from both blue-collar and right-leaning suburban voters, according to the report.
Christie hasn't announced a presidential run publicly, although he did tell radio host Hugh Hewitt that he wouldn't rule it out.
Christie reportedly told associates that a potential run by Trump wouldn't impact his decision to join the race.
