UNCASVILLE, CT (1010 WINS) -- Connecticut is opening a mass COVID-19 vaccination site at Mohegan Sun casino, Gov. Ned Lamont said Thursday.

The new clinic, which will be located inside the casino's Earth Expo & Convention Center, will start vaccinating Connecticut residents on Friday, Feb. 19, Lamont said in a press release.

"This latest mass vaccination site shows the coordinated effort our state is making with our tribal partners, and our partners in healthcare," the governor said in a statement.

"The Mohegan Tribe has taken incredible steps throughout the pandemic to keep its members and residents safe through standing up testing sites, the distribution of PPE, and coordination with the Connecticut Department of Public Health," he added. "We will get through this pandemic by working together, especially in vaccine distribution, and that's exactly what this site represents."

Connecticut residents who are eligible to get vaccinated can schedule an appointment at the site by visiting www.ynhhs.org/covidvaccine and selecting "Mohegan Sun," or by calling the state's COVID Vaccine Appointment Assist Line at 877-918-2224 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. seven days a week.
