HARTFORD, CT (1010 WINS) -- Connecticut reported two new COVID-19 deaths and a 1.4 percent infection rate on Monday amid an ongoing flare-up in New London, Gov. Ned Lamont said.
Of the 77,261 COVID-19 test results that came back in the state on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 1,066, or 1.4 percent, were positive, Lamont tweeted Monday afternoon.
As of Sunday, 155 people in the state were hospitalized with COVID-19, up by 21 from Saturday, he added.
Earlier in the day, Lamont made a stop in New London, where he encouraged residents to get tested for COVID-19.
Connecticut issued a "COVID-19 alert" for the city on Oct. 8, after the area reported 115 new COVID-19 cases in the span of two weeks.
"We know that there's been a flare-up around the region, we've seen this movie before, and it's going to have a good ending," the governor said. "It's going to be very different because, A, we know what we've got to do."
New London residents who have COVID-19 symptoms or have been exposed to someone who has symptoms — or who has tested positive — should get tested themselves, he said.
"We need you to do that, and be careful, and then quarantine," he said. "That's how you're going to keep New London safe going forward."
