HARTFORD, CT (1010 WINS) -- Connecticut reported a 2.4 percent COVID-19 infection rate on Tuesday — the highest positivity rate the state has recorded since June, Gov. Ned Lamont said.

Of the 13,393 COVID-19 test results that came back in the state on Monday, 320, or 2.4 percent, were positive, Lamont said.

"That's the highest positivity rate we've had since June," he said at a news briefing. "That reflects a positivity rate that has been trending up over the last month."

The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Connecticut increased by 17 between Sunday and Monday, to 172, Lamont said.

The state also reported one COVID-19 fatality, bringing its death toll to 4,533.

Asked if Connecticut residents should be concerned about the increased infection rate or the uptick in hospitalizations, Lamont said the two were "not totally unanticipated."

Health officials in the state thought there might be "some sort of a flare-up" in October and November, he said.

"It is concerning," he said. "(But) we're much better prepared than we were before."
