HARTFORD, Conn. (1010 WINS) -- A former Connecticut teacher has been sentenced to nearly six years in prison for trading over 100 images of child pornography while posing as a teenager on the messaging app Kik, federal authorities announced Monday.

According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office in Connecticut, Dylan Koerner, 29, taught music at a Hartford elementary school, tricked girls as young as 12 into sending him nude photos of themselves, and then traded those images with other Kik users.

Koerner used the false teenage alias for at least three months before federal investigators executed a search warrant at his home in October 2019 where agents seized his cell phone, laptop and external hard drive, according to the release.

Investigators discovered 121 photos and nine videos depicting child porn as well as numerous images and video depicting child erotica, the release adds.

Koerner pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of child pornography at a court hearing in September and is currently out on $100,000 bond.

He is required to report to prison on May 4 where his 70-month sentence will be followed by three years of supervised release.
