HARTFORD, CT (1010 WINS) -- Connecticut's COVID-19 infection rate fell to 2.5 percent on Friday, a day after Gov. Ned Lamont reported a 6.1 percent rate — the state's highest since June 1.
Of the 30,554 COVID-19 test results that came back in Connecticut on Thursday, 761, or 2.5 percent, were positive, Lamont tweeted.
As of Thursday evening, 329 people in the state were hospitalized with COVID-19, up by eight from Wednesday.
The state also reported seven new COVID-19-related fatalities, pushing its death toll to 4,616.
At a news briefing on Thursday, Lamont said the state would consider reverting back to Phase 2 of its reopening if the 6.1 percent infection rate turned out to be a trend, rather than a one-day blip.
Thirty cities and towns in Connecticut are currently on the state's list of "Red Alert" areas with high COVID-19 case counts.
"Red Alert" areas have the option of reverting back to Phase 2. The state has also encouraged residents in those areas to limit outdoor trips, avoid gatherings with non-family members, cancel public events and postpone indoor activities.
