NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A Connecticut school resource officer was found dead in an apparent suicide on Friday, just hours after being arrested on several charges, including enticing a minor by computer, according to police.

Officers responded to a welfare check at the Hatch Hill Road boat launch around 1:40 p.m. on Dec. 6, according to the Vernon Police Department. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man inside a vehicle suffering from an apparent self-inflicted wound.

The man was identified as Sgt. Ryan Moan, 33, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Earlier that day, Moan had been arrested and charged with enticing a minor by computer, impairing the morals of a minor, misrepresentation of age to entice a minor, and tampering with physical evidence, according to the Manchester Police Department.

Moan had been released from custody hours before he was found at a boat launch on Middle Bolton Lake in Vernon with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, police said.

The Manchester Police Department noted that Moan had been employed with the department since 2017 and most recently served as the SRO Supervisor for Manchester Public Schools. He had been placed on unpaid leave following his arrest.

Police clarified that the charges were not "related to him acting in his capacity as a police officer and the victim is not a Manchester student or resident."

The Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later confirmed Moan's death as a suicide.
