WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (1010 WINS) — A West Hartford high school reportedly began it's Christmas break a day earlier than expected due to a rising number of COVID-19 cases at the school.
NBC CT reports that administrators at Northwest Catholic High School canceled classes for Thursday, a day before its scheduled break.
School officials reportedly said 10% of their school community has been identified as a close contact.
School is expected to resume on Jan. 3.
The school's decision comes amid a surge of cases in Connecticut that reached nearly 9% positivity.
Gov. Ned Lamont on Tuesday called that positivity statistic "staggering."
