NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 22-year-old Connecticut man was arrested and charged on Wednesday with multiple federal child exploitation offenses after he allegedly used Snapchat and other online applications to entice underage girls into illegal sexual activity, according to the Justice Department.
According to court documents, Alexander Dilella used various online accounts, like Snapchat, Omegle and FaceTime, to communicate with minor girls, some as young as 13- or 14-years-old, and coerce them into sexual behavior.
During one Snapchat exchange with a 14-year-old victim, Dilella referred to the girl as a "child porn slave" and demanded that she send him a sexually explicit image of herself, which she did.
On May 24, 2021, investigators seized Dilella's iPhone and an analysis revealed videos of prepubescent children being sexually abused.
Dilella is charged with enticement of a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity, which carries a mandatory minimum term of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life in prison. He is also faces charges for the receipt of child pornography, which carries a mandatory minimum term of five years in prison and a maximum of 20 years and possession of child pornography, which carries a maximum term of 10 years in prison.
Dilella is being detained pending the completion of his detention hearing, which was continued until Friday.
