NEW LONDON, Conn. (1010 WINS) — A woman was arrested following an investigation that she was illegally performing medical procedures at her Connecticut home, police announced Thursday.

On July 1, 2024, the New London police received a complaint that a person was performing medical procedures reported to be cosmetic in type at her residence.


Police later identified the person as 45-year-old Sofia Rodriguez-Lopez. She was was arrested Jan. 9 after an investigation, authorities said.

Rodriguez-Lopez was charged with reckless endangerment and practicing medicine without a license.

A $75,000 cash-surety bond was set by officials after evidence supporting the initial report was located and seized at Rodriguez-Lopez's residence.

The investigation remains ongoing.
