UNION BEACH, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A 10-year-old dog was rescued after swimming a mile and a half off the coast of Union Beach, New Jersey, during Fourth of July festivities on Monday.
Caiden, a Siberian Husky, "managed to doggy-paddle" into Raritan Bay and was in distress as he separated from his owner during the city's Fourth of July celebrations on the beach, authorities said Wednesday.
After finding the dog, deputies from the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office Marine 1 Unit took him aboard and reunited him with his "grateful" owner.
Sheriff Shaun Golden praised the "great team for a job well done."
