BALDWIN, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A Long Island driver is now in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody after he was arrested for ramming another vehicle in a road rage incident on Wednesday evening, according to Nassau County Police.
At about 5:55 p.m., 30-year-old Alfredo Ushpa Ortiz and an 18-year-old victim were involved in a road rage incident near Sunrise Highway and Milburn Avenue in Baldwin, police said.
Ortiz was in his Toyota pickup truck when he allegedly got into a verbal argument with the victim, who was driving a sedan, officials said.
The argument escalated and police said that Ortiz intentionally collided with the rear of the victim’s car, leading both vehicles to pull over.
Ortiz then allegedly became irate, punching the victim’s vehicle multiple times before fleeing.
He was later arrested at his home without incident, police said.
Following the investigation, it was determined that Ortiz has an outstanding warrant of removal pending with ICE.
He was released on an appearance ticket after being charged with two counts of third-degree criminal mischief, and taken into custody by ICE.
