CRANFORD, N.J. (1010 WINS) — Two teenage girls on bicycles were killed Monday night after being struck by an SUV in an apparent hit-and-run crash.

The incident occurred just before 5:30 p.m. near 44 Burnside Ave. in Cranford.

According to authorities, the driver fled the scene but was later located several blocks away on Lincoln Avenue West. The driver was taken into custody, but no charges have been announced.

The two victims were rushed to a local hospital in critical condition but later died from their injuries. Their identities have not been released at this time.

Authorities have not released details about the driver or the circumstances surrounding the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
