NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- In a new docuseries that premiered Tuesday on the Peacock streaming service, Rex Heuermann’s ex-wife said he’s her “hero,” while his daughter said she believes he may be the killer.
A crew followed the family around for months to film the series, “Gilgo Beach Killer: House of Secrets.”
Victoria Heuermann, 28, said she’s “on the fence” about whether her father is the killer.
“She is now of the belief that her father may be the Gilgo Beach serial killer,” said the family’s attorney, Robert Macedonio.
Meanwhile, his ex-wife Asa Ellerup, 61, said “I don't believe he did this” and that he is her “hero” after an abusive first marriage.
“She’s always said I don’t believe the Rex I know is capable of this,” Macedonio said.
Rex Heuermann, 61, of Massapequa Park, has been charged with murdering seven women in the Gilgo case. He was arrested in Midtown Manhattan in July 2023 and has remained jailed as he awaits trial. He pleaded not guilty on all counts.
