NEWARK, N.J. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – The Newark FBI released information to the public on Friday with hopes of receiving help in their investigation into the disappearance of a New Jersey man who hasn’t been seen since 2019.

Federal investigators are helping the Marlboro Police Department in the search for Liam Baran, 36, who was last seen hiking in a remote area of Italy.

Baran, of Marlboro, left home on April 8, 2019, to visit his grandparents in Israel before traveling to the wine country of Italy, the FBI said. He wrote an online blog where he discussed his love of wine and wine country.

From Italy, Baran planned to travel to France, and was booked on a return flight to the U.S. from Paris on May 16, 2019, that he never made.

The last piece of activity relating to Baran was a train ticket purchase on his credit card to Turin, Italy, feds said.

Italian police investigated and found that Baran was in the Aosta Valley where he stayed in multiple hostels and spent time with other travelers.

Baran is described as having brown hair and brown eyes and being around 160 pounds at 5’8”. He also has a gap between his two front teeth.
