FBI: NJ residents who got tested for COVID-19 at Ventnor lab should get retested
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The FBI is urging New Jerseyans who recently got tested for COVID-19 at a lab in Ventnor to get retested elsewhere "as soon as possible."
The FBI's Newark division on Friday released a statement asking anyone who was recently tested for COVID-19 at Infinity Diagnostic Laboratory, at 6715 Atlantic Avenue in Ventnor, to get tested again at another site.
New Jerseyans who got tested using a finger prick blood test at the Ventnor lab, meanwhile, should contact the FBI at NK-Victim-Assistance@FBI.gov, the agency said in the statement.
"As stated on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's website, 'rapid' finger prick blood tests for COVID-19 are antibody tests and should not be used for diagnosing active cases of COVID-19," the statement said. "Only a test that uses a nasal swab or saliva should be used to diagnose active cases of COVID-19."
The FBI didn't say why it put out the statement, but NBC Philadelphia reported that the agency raided the lab on Thursday. It wasn't immediately clear why the raid took place.
