NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A former upstate New York correctional officer was arraigned on Wednesday in Albany on an indictment for abusive sexual contact with a female federal detainee, the Department of Justice said.

Sean Morrissey, 51, of Waterford, New York, is accused of abusive sexual contact of a ward. Morrissey was a correctional officer at Rensselaer County Correctional Facility at the time of his alleged crime, the DOJ stated.

Between Sept. 7, 2018, and Sept. 21, 2018, Morrissey knowingly touched the female federal detainee, "with the intent to abuse, humiliate, harass, degrade, or arouse or gratify the sexual desire of a person," according to prosecutors.
"The charge in the indictment is merely an accusation."

If charged, Morrissey may serve up to two years in prison and pay a fine of up to $250,000 and term of a term of supervised release of up to 1 year.

He was released with conditions pending a trial to be scheduled.
