
UPPER FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A 16-year-old girl was fatally struck by a car while jogging along a county highway in Upper Freehold Township Friday morning, according to the New Jersey State Police.
The Allentown High School student was jogging northbound on County Route 539 near the Route 537 intersection around 7:46 a.m. when a Kia Soul hit her, officials said.
The driver, who was also traveling northbound, reportedly crossed the center line and traveled onto a grass embankment after hitting the teenager.
Allentown High School offered counseling to students or staff Saturday morning.
