BOHEMIA, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A 6-year-old girl has died of injuries she sustained in a serious collision on Saturday afternoon that left her ejected from the vehicle, Suffolk County Police said on Sunday.

Calix Armando Rivera Aguilar, 51, was driving westbound on Sunrise Highway in Bohemia on Saturday with his 6-year-old daughter, Amaia Rivera, in the backseat.

River Aguilar lost control of the vehicle at about 3:35 p.m. and it hit the center median, crossed all the westbound lanes, left the roadway and struck a tree.

Amaia was ejected from the car during the crash, and rushed to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip in critical condition. She died Sunday.

Rivera Aguilar, of Brentwood, was not injured. His vehicle, a 2012 Infiniti G37, was impounded for a safety check.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact detectives with the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8542.
